Proverbs, Day 2: A Worthy Investment!

"Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures."
Proverbs 2:2-4 (New Living Translation)

For weeks the Holy Spirit has been depositing a thought within me about investments. Ever person that invests anything (time, money, labor, etc.) is doing so with the expectation of the biggest return possible. The vision I received from the Lord during today's reading confirmed that thought for me.

I saw a man dressed in long pants, a long-sleeved, collared shirt and a yellow hard hat. He was covered in dirt and soot from head to toe. He was walking toward another man who handed him a paycheck. When I read the above verses again, after this vision, I just heard the word "investment." Everything we invest in will give some type of return. Yes, even on our jobs we are investing our time and energies, talents and skills with the expectation of being justly compensated.

There's such a huge and marvelous return in tuning our ears to wisdom and crying out for insight and understanding! In it, we gain knowledge of Him (the One who breathed life into us) and learn what it means to fear Him, according to Proverbs 2:5! I love how that is carried over from Chapter 1. We build on that foundation with which we began. How awesome is that?!  :-D
